Brady Walker: Can you please introduce yourself to our readers?

Parin Heidari: I am Parin Heidari, a multidisciplinary artist with a multicultural background.

BW: Tell me about the piece you’re bringing to Miami with MakersPlace & Transient Labs.

PH: Imagine it as a snapshot of the mind, capturing a mix of thoughts and feelings. It’s like a bustling marketplace of ideas in our brains. As you explore the sculpture, you’ll notice a dance of emotions and concepts, swirling and intermingling. It’s like a vibrant party for all the diverse notions in our heads. But here’s the magic: when you find someone who gets you, who thinks like you do, it’s like these ideas start dancing together in perfect harmony. Whispers of Unity is a celebration of those moments when our minds sync up, creating a beautiful connection of shared understanding and likemindedness.

BW: Can you share any specific rituals or practices that help you maintain your creative momentum?

PH: Every day, I begin with music — it’s my biggest inspiration. Because I have Synesthesia, music paints pictures in my mind. Even if I don’t draw every day, just listening to music sparks lots of images and feelings. When I do decide to draw, I put those emotions onto paper, turning the music-inspired pictures in my head into drawings.

BW: How much planning or preliminary thought goes into each painting?

PH: It varies. Some days, it’s planned, and other times, it just happens spontaneously. Paintings usually require more thought than drawings. The drawings I create with both hands simultaneously are not planned.

BW: How would you describe how your work is currently evolving?

PH: For years, I created paintings, drawings, and animations. Now, thanks to technology, I’m expanding into additional dimensions like interactive design, sculpture, AR, and more.

BW: What do you hope people feel when they look at your art?

PH: I hope my art makes people think more about their connections with others and their own feelings. I want it to be like a little nudge to tap into those inner emotions, find the beauty in complicated thoughts, and see them as simple as the lines.

BW: What role does physical art play in the broader web3 art ecosystem?

PH: In the broader Web3 art ecosystem, physical art plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between the digital and tangible worlds.

While Web3 primarily involves blockchain technology, NFTs, and digital assets, physical art remains a tangible and often foundational aspect of artistic expression. NFTs, representing ownership or authenticity of digital assets, can be linked to physical artworks, creating a unique blend of the traditional and the modern.

Also NFTs can do more than just certify authenticity; they can leverage blockchain technology to enhance art. For instance, while keeping the physical piece, we can use blockchain to make it dynamic or add animations.

BW: Who or what else excites you in the art world (web3 or trad) right now?

PH: The intersection of the traditional and digital worlds is very exciting. Nowadays, numerous multidisciplinary artists, who might have struggled to showcase their work in museums or traditional galleries before the NFTs, are gaining recognition. Witnessing traditional artists venture into new mediums and embrace technology is very exciting to me.
