Robek is a legend in the NFT space both for his original artwork — stretching back to the original Curio Cards — and perhaps more so for his collection, comprising more than 4.2k NFTs, primarily 1/1 and mainly in or around the anime/manga genres.

Starting in 2014, Robek was involved with online cultural movements leaning into decentralization, first on the distributed social networking platform called gnusocial, now known as the Fediverse. There, he met developers interested in open-source and free culture. Seeing they were in need of a designer, he jumped at the chance.

The list of projects he’s been involved in is long and incredibly OG, including token.gallery, 10grans,  Lexitoken, fnd.moe, weeb3dao, and his own project, rwx.quest — a blockchain game and attempt to make NFTs considered more like real-world tangible objects.

For this drop, Robek is pushing the limits of his personal pixelated style. In three new pieces — prelude, afterall, and 2202 — the artists is incorporating elements of geometric abstraction while maintaining an anime-inspired look and feel, though one that harkens back to 70s and 80s anime.

This is also one of the first times Robek has started to incorporate AI-generated elements into his work for two video pieces, complete with sound design and meant to evoke a sense of nostalgia and whimsy. The pieces incorporating AI gens will be revealed nearer to the drop date.
