About Lumi
Seattle-based digital artist, Lumi, creates vibrant and imaginative dreamscapes inspired by the surreal and psychedelic qualities of life. Lumi’s artworks often reference the landscapes and culture of climes like Iceland and Scandinavia to create lush and vivid scenes that stimulate the senses and invigorate a passion for living and curiosity.
With more than 5 billion views on GIPHY, 150K followers on Instagram, and clients like Louis Vuitton, Netflix, and Adobe, Lumi is one of the foremost digital artists in the world.
Lumi discovered his passion for the arts in his high school multimedia class, “within those first few weeks of learning the functionality of Photoshop, I was hooked,” says Lumi. Lumi believes that when someone discovers their passion, it can manifest in several ways. For him, “it was a feeling of a lightning strike on the crown of my head embodying the revelation that I was going to create art for the rest of my life.”
Lumi would go on to become a finalist for the Adobe School Innovation Awards. “Being on Adobe’s radar led to all sorts of amazing opportunities as my work developed. I was Adobe’s featured artist for a month and did a takeover of their Instagram, which brought a lot of attention to my work, changing my life.”
When asked what inspires his work, Lumi said, “There are hundreds of things that inspire me. Stark scenes of minimal futurism, the delightful waviness of nature, and the way it curls around everything it touches. Grey days where the light is not so harsh and a delicious wet coolness hang in the air. Watching movies like Princess Mononoke, the liberating spirit of music, and the way human curiosity and imagination have shifted and transformed the world. I am inspired by kindness and compassion.”
