Today we’re super excited to unveil a suite of new functionality and improvements to the MakersPlace experience to expand our marketplace while improving the buying and selling experience across the site.
Over the past year we’ve seen the excitement for NFTs reach new heights. Sparked by the sale of Beeple’s EVERYDAYS: THE FIRST 5000 Days for $69M in collaboration with MakersPlace and Christie’s auction house, the space witnessed unprecedented demand for this new medium of creativity by both creators and collectors. Hundreds of exciting new NFT projects launch each week. We’ve seen projects that push the boundaries of NFTs like Bored Ape Yacht Club and Art Blocks, but at the same time, many projects end up as simply scams and fraudulent — we want to solve this problem.
Discover Verified and Authentic 3rd Party NFTs
MakersPlace is a trusted marketplace to discover and collect authentic digital artworks by leading creators, helping to curate thousands of the world’s leading artist and creations to date. Starting today, we’re expanding our marketplace with the inclusion of 3rd party NFTs that have been authenticated and verified by our curation team. Collectors can now discover even more creations by the world’s leading creatives, in a trusted marketplace with the assurance of authenticity.
To start, you can now discover projects such as: Bored Apes, Mutant Apes, Art Blocks, LOSTPOETS by Pak, The Currency by Damien Hirst and Autoglyphs. More projects will be added by our curation team over time. If you’d like to see your project listed on MakersPlace, you can apply here.
We’re also excited to announce that sellers of any verified 3rd party NFT will enjoy a low commission rate of 0.5%, along with any project-specific royalties.
A New and Improved Selling Experience
With the expansion of the our marketplace, we’ve also completely redesigned the sell experience to be more streamlined and intuitive. You can now list your artwork directly within the artwork page by setting a lowest asking price or awaiting an appropriate offer.
There are two pricing options available:
Buy Now : Any interested buyer will be able to purchase your NFT for the price listed immediately. You will not need to accept any bids or engage in any actions for the sale to go through.
Reserve Price: A reserve price signals the lowest amount you would be willing to accept for your NFT. Once an offer meets your reserve amount, a 24 hour auction will automatically be triggered. During this time, other interested buyers can place bids. The bidder with the highest offer at the end of the auction will be the new owner of the NFT.
If you’ve selected the “Sell this Artwork” toggle, and don’t set a lowest asking price, we will promote your artwork to collectors indicating that you’re interested in selling this artwork, and awaiting an appropriate offer.
Improved Marketplace Discovery, Insights and Login with Wallet
Lastly, we’ve also introduced a number of additional major enhancements including:
- An improved marketplace experience, providing more ways to browse and filter creations as well as providing valuable market insights for each artist and collection.
- Activity feeds to track mint, purchase, bid and transfer details for each artist and collection.
- The ability to register or login using your digital wallet. You can also associate multiple digital wallets to your account, allowing you to showcase all of your verified NFTs across all of your wallets, in your personal collection.
With these changes, we’re excited to expand MakersPlace to truly be the trusted marketplace for the world’s digital creations. We’re excited to not only provide a platform to create, but to continue to curate and offer authentic creations by the world’s leading creators.
MakersPlace is the premier NFT marketplace for digital art. Launched in 2018, MakersPlace utilizes blockchain technology to facilitate the sale of authentic, original digital artwork, ensuring rarity and ownership for both creators and collectors. MakersPlace has emphasized accessibility since its inception, and has attracted a large mainstream audience as the first NFT marketplace to accept both cryptocurrency (ETH) and non-cryptocurrency (USD) payments, which it facilitates through crypto wallet and credit card transactions, respectively. MakersPlace helped catapult digital art and NFTs onto the global stage, with the historic sale of Beeple’s Everydays: The First 5000 Days for $69.3 million in partnership with Christie’s auction house in March 2021 – the record price for any digital artwork. Our mission is simple: to enable a vibrant future for digital creativity.
