Revisiting our Artist Ancestors

This series of works created by Javier Arrés and Antonio García Villarán are based on the union of the past and the future of art. They have carried out an investigation into the work of Andalusian artists and have selected three which they have reinterpreted to contribute their own personal artistic visions from the present. The images of today would not be understood without the images of the past. Andalusian masters such as Picasso, Velázquez, Murillo, Valdés Leal, Gonzalo Bilbao and many others have drank from the inspiration of their land to create great works of art. On this occasion, two Andalusian artists climb on their shoulders to present a collision of artistic knowledge from the past with the new way of understanding art today.
