The Sherman Brothers are arguably the most successful songwriting team in Hollywood history, having written song scores for Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Jungle Book, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Winnie the Pooh and Charlotte’s Web among many others famous titles. Today, their song “It’s A Small World (After All)” holds the record as the most performed song on Earth.

Their immeasurable musical legacy lives on through songwriter, book writer and producer, Robert J. Sherman (“Robbie”), Robert B. Sherman’s son. Sherman Theatrical Entertainment was formed in 2020 by Robert J. Sherman, Andrew Kaplan and Bret Goldin. The company’s mission is to create and license top quality theatre, film, TV, music, songs and streaming entertainment with a focus on musical family fare.

Founder/Chairman of Sherman Theatrical Entertainment, Robert J. Sherman’s great grandfather Samuel Sherman (1871-1948) was the court composer and conductor for Emperor Franz Josef II of the Austro-Hungarian Empire between 1903 and 1909. Samuel’s son, Al Sherman (1897-1973), was a popular songwriter during the Tin Pan Alley era writing hit songs.

But perhaps Al’s greatest songwriting achievement was in teaming up his two sons, Robert and Richard into the Sherman Brothers songwriting team. Together, they would become one of the most successful and beloved songwriting partnerships in American music history.

INKAS – Sherman Brothers NFT Collection

Dating back to 1951, Inkas the Ramferinkas, a tale about a flying dinosaur, was the Sherman Brothers’ first foray into family entertainment but it certainly wouldn’t be their last. In subsequent decades the Sherman Brothers would win Oscars, Grammys, dozens of Gold and Platinum records and a National Medal of Arts awarded by the President of the United States. Still it wasn’t until near the end of the Sherman Brothers’ collective careers that Bob Sherman’s son, Robert J. Sherman (“Robbie”) would approach his father and uncle with the idea of recreating Inkas as a feature-length, animated motion picture. The Sherman Brothers’ original story was expanded into a full-length screenplay with additional songs written to augment the musical score.

A team of Oscar, Emmy, BAFTA, Grammy, Tony and Annie Award winners was assembled to design and give voice to the various characters who inhabit Inkas’s world. Then an 81 minute, animatic, “storyboard reel” was created containing these unique hand drawn images, some now available as NFTs.

70 YEARS IN THE MAKING…INKAS WAS THE FIRST AND WILL NOW ALSO BE THE FINAL SHERMAN BROTHERS ANIMATED MUSICAL EVER MADE!!!

Sherman Theatrical Entertainment will debut the INKAS NFT Collection on December 1 at Nolcha Shows: NFT Edition during Miami Art Week 2021. Professional opera singer Charlotte Ushela will be at the event performing melodies from the Sherman Theatrical Entertainment catalogue including “Little No One” from Inkas the Ramferinkas. The performance will be live streamed on MakersPlace’s Instagram account.

A portion of the proceeds of the NFT sales will support carbon removal from Nori projects.
