David Ariew

David Ariew is a 3D artist and educator, known to the community as “Octane Jesus” thanks to his awesome hair, and a comment that took off in one of his many tutorials. He started his career in neuroscience at UVA, mapping the brain of the common fruit fly, but quickly realized his passion lay elsewhere. His background is in the border between the music and film industries, where he spent three years working on touring visuals for Dave Matthews Band, and first discovered his love of C4D, and more importantly, Octane Render back in 2013.

He’s since worked with artists like Beeple, Deadmau5, Zedd, Katy Perry, Keith Urban, and Excision. His passion lies in creating overly ambitious, full CG short films. Ariew has always deeply appreciated animated films, cinematography, stage lighting, and all kinds of other elements that create the visuals we all have come to recognize as his work.

Down on the Render Farm

Down on the Render Farm started as quite literally, a joke. What continued and has evolved as a series of short films is now comedic and whimsical, depicting the day-to-day of a futuristic render farm. GPUs are harvested from the field, and all the farmhands and animals are robotic. And of course, aliens still come and abduct the robo-cows!
