lushsux is Australia’s most prolific street artist, the world’s first official meme artist and founder of the meme movement, an undeniable force within today’s internet culture. Based in Melbourne, lushsux’s iconic, thought-provoking works can be found on walls, buildings and subway stations across the world.

Through his practice, lushsux has pushed graffiti and street art beyond its limits. No figure, concept or wall is safe from lushsux, whose satirical, and usually controversial, mural art have touched on everything from politics to pop icons, resulting in censorship or debate from some of the world’s most influential institutions and figures. Lushsux dropped his first NFT collection in February of this year (2021) which was met with a rush of excitement and enthusiasm from the community. His debut collection ranged from editions of 51 to 2, with an average primary sales price of $894 and an average resale price of $3,960 (+343%).

For this series, lushsux has joined forces with collector 888 to present an iconic portrait series of crypto society’s most impactful figures.

“The angel 888 came to me with a prophecy, the vision was to spend 8 whole days in VR painting 8 figures from the crypto / NFT space. My first all digital piece of artwork ever to be released as an NFT. Each portrait is someone I consider interesting or a leading figure within this whole new world for a lot of us.

Mid way through painting I started to feel like I could see pixelation in real life. I would walk around outside when I had the VR headset off half worried I’d smash my knees into a desk at some point because I didn’t have the guardian boundary setup right. Towards the end of the creation it felt like the rubicon had been crossed into a cyberpunk future of sorts after spray painting in real life for 21 years.“

The 8: Ultra Rare 1/1 NFT Mural

A rare 1/1 digital mural depicting 8 influential figures in the crypto/NFT movement has been commissioned (and is owned) by collector 888. Each figure in the mural is depicted in a personal digital portrait consisting of 8 editions each.

Editions 1-18 are reserved for the top 18 collectors of all time on MakersPlace (determined by total spent on the platform). The next 30 editions will be distributed amongst 30 collectors, selected randomly from those that have been active on MakersPlace for at least 88 days and has purchased at least once in the last week. The final 40 editions will be claimed on a first click, first serve basis for $8 / edition.

For the next 8 weeks, lushsux will be releasing a special portrait artwork of each figure depicted on the mural. The first edition of each artwork is reserved for 888 as the commissioner and collaborator of this project.

Each individual edition will be auctioned for 24 hours, once the auction for said edition ends, the auction for the next edition begins. Auctioning for the editions of each artwork will last 7 days in total. New artworks will be dropped each Tuesday at 3:30 PM PST for the next 8 weeks.
