We are excited to announce that prolific 3D animator Nicholas Keays and the award-winning Australian dance music trio, PNAU have joined forces to bring their first GENESIS Drop to MakersPlace. This collection was previously debuted at the @FutureArt exhibition, based in Sydney, Australia. Today, these audiovisual artworks will become immortalized on blockchain, via MakersPlace. It is a great honor to welcome these iconic creators to the world of NFTs.
Nicholas Keays
Nicholas Keays is a digital artist and 3D animator who is celebrated across visual art circles for his otherworldly take on digital expression. His artworks transports us to mystical realms, introducing a number of fantastical, hypnotizing creatures and scenarios. Color and clearly defined forms act as crucial tools for Keays, who seamlessly takes viewers on a mental trip through his wondrous imagination.
Keays’ artwork puts a surrealist twist on traditional figurative artistic approaches, incorporating a number of fantastical creatures, with deeply symbolic representations, into his artworks such as angels, nymphs, and in this particular series the Virgin Mary.
PNAU
Started in the 90s by secondary school friends Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes, PNAU has risen from their origins in the rave and progressive scenes of the 90s and 2000s to become one of Australia’s most celebrated electronic groups, dominating the dance floor for decades. In 2016, Sam Littlemore joined the group, propelling them to even greater musical successes.
The group’s widely acclaimed 2007 release Pnau caught the attention of legendary singer, songwriter, pianist, and composer Elton John who was so impressed by the album that he signed the (then) duo. Since then many of the group’s projects have featured John’s involvement, including the album Soft Universe and #1 UK Album Good Morning To The Night (Deluxe) featuring Pnau recreations of Elton John’s hits.
Over the years, PNAU’s music has crossed many genres from psychedelic acid rock to house music, indie electronica, disco and everything in between. The combination of house, funk, hip-hop, Latin and jazz on the duo’s debut album, Sambanova, earned PNAU an ARIA Award for Best Dance Release. The group is known for their contagious rhythm and relentless experimentation across musical genres and tools.
It is only fitting that a future thinking, exploratory group like PNAU would be one of the first of the peers to venture into the emerging NFT scene, forever solidifying their electronica legacy.
