Our Latest Expansion in the Virtual Reality World

Rare Digital Art in the Virtual World

MakersPlace is a premier market for truly rare digital artworks — digital art where its authenticity and rarity is guaranteed by blockchain technology. Today, we’re home to thousands of digital digital artists and collectors creating and collecting in this exciting new medium.

Since the start of MakersPlace, we’ve witnessed the world of digital art and the blockchain community blossom and expand at a rate many didn’t believe possible. Today entire virtual worlds exist: They’re filled with vibrant neighborhoods and unique spaces where land owners have total freedom to create their virtual dream land. These worlds allow you to build, buy and explore with complete freedom — all through a fully decentralized online network.

Back in January, we entered the world of virtual reality with the opening of our gallery in Cryptovoxels. It seemed like an obvious next step for us, with much of our community already beginning to explore virtual worlds. These worlds provide a place for collectors and artists to display and experience their artwork in a digitally native and immersive way.

The Next Chapter: Decentraland

Digital art is playing an increasingly important role within blockchain communities and virtual spaces in which these community members dwell, and we’re excited to be at the forefront.

In partnership with the Genesis City Art Week in Decentraland, we’re excited to announce the opening of our newest art gallery and continued expansion into the world of virtual reality in Decentraland. Click to go to our Gallery!

To celebrate, we’re holding a special launch party and featuring the artwork of fourteen lead rare digital artists:

Greg Notzelman, Pxlpet, Karl Poyzer, George Boya, PhilipXN, KrikCo, GrayMask, Elephai, Gala Mirissa, Forlenza, Katy Arrington, Angga Tantama, Monfa, mare, Federico Paoli, and Javier Arres.

Launch Party: An Afternoon of Digital Art

Just because we’re confined to our homes, doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate in style. Here is the full schedule festivities to accompany our opening:

1pm to 1:30pm PST — Javier Arres and Katy Arrington

We’ll be unveiling a first ever collaborative artwork, Crypto Combat, by Javier Arres and Katy Arrington. Join us for a special video interview of the digital duo and learn each artist’s story and the inspiration behind their new piece.

1:30pm to 3pm PST — Talks with more MakersPlace Artists

  • An interview with Fabin Rasheed and Indrani Mitrai where they’ll give us the rundown of their art and new art review series Hidden Gems.
  • An interview with George Boya who’ll share the inspiration behind his latest series and thoughts on the future of digital art
  • A joint talk with Gala Mirissa and Dunja Jung who’ll dive into the details of their latest creations and relationship with digital arts.

3pm PST — Rare Digital Art Scavenger Hunt!

To conclude the festivities, we’ll be holding a rare digital art scavenger hunt (keep an eye on Twitter/Discord for details). We hope everyone will be able to explore the amazing featured artists and their artworks, with an opportunity to win one of the following artworks:
