Vakseen

No one in the world thinks like me and as an artist it’s everything. My vision is what brings every single creation to life.

Vakseen

Vakseen is multi-disciplinary artist who has achieved great success in both the music and visual art landscapes. You could call him a Modern Arts renaissance man. His artwork has been exhibited around the world and featured in many famed publications (see his list of features below). He is also an acclaimed producer and recording artist.

For as long as he can remember, Vakseen has loved the arts in its various forms. Vakseen grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, where he spent his childhood and teenage days drawing and painting. But after an attempt of censorship from his high school AP art teacher left a sour taste in his mouth, Vakseen switched his artistic focus towards music. Not only did he love creating music, but he was great at it and quickly became a success in the industry (he’s worked with Plies, PitBull, Trina, Jagged Edge and more). Yet his passion for visual arts lingered, eventually prompting him to move across the country to Los Angeles to pursue painting and visual arts full-time.

Although these days Vakseen is mostly consumed by his visual creations (and raising a toddler), music continues to be an integral part of his life. The love for and intersection of music and visual art is apparent in his Pop Pop Collection: A series of bold pop art portraitures featuring Vakseen’s favorite pop culture icons, many of whom are musicians: Prince, 2Pac, Beyonce, Jay-Z, to name a few. Vakseen celebrates these pop culture icons and their legacy through an explosion of color, vibrancy and liveliness.

Vanity Pop denotes another signature style of Vakseen: From afar, the paintings within this series give the illusion of a classic cut-out collage; but upon closer inspection you’ll notice that each shape actually contains a photorealistic portrait that is completely hand-painted. In fact, the depth of these paintings is so deep, they may appear more realistic than an actual photo. Vakseen describes this series as a blend of cubism, photorealism, fashion design and pop surrealism.

“These portraits are a celebration of diversity and the acute imperfections and endless perfections every woman possesses.” — Vakseen

Empty Promises

“Empty Promises” represents being BOLD. She represents dreaming BIG and grabbing life by the hand to create your own narrative. She represents living life to the fullest and overcoming ALL obstacles while learning from past mistakes. She inspires CHANGE.

-Vakseen

“Empty Promises” is a unique, one of a kind collage that was birthed during and inspired by the coronavirus quarantines. Breaking away from his usual Vanity Pop style, Vakseen created a traditional, old-school style collage while still managing to maintain his signature feminine pop art aesthetic. Each section of this artwork tells a story of facing hardships, and more importantly overcoming them.

This is a creation that speaks directly to the current Covid times, yet its message of fearless perseverance and determination will remain forever relevant. It is an important reminder to stay strong and keep your head up through adversities.

Rasberry Jenèe

“Rasberry Jenée” was inspired by the current protests & represents that bold, youthful energy that’s spearheading change for the future. She represents dreaming BIG and creating your own narrative. She represents living life to the fullest and overcoming ALL obstacles while learning from past mistakes. She inspires CHANGE.

Vakseen

For “Rasberry Jenèe”, Vakseen swapped his paint brush for a stylus to capture his signature pop art portrait style in a digital form. Her hair is pink, her eyebrows blue, her eyes are kissed with shades of purple — Jenèe is is not afraid of standing out, she doesn’t care what you think. Vibrant colors, defined boundaries and Jenèe’s soul-penetrating stare speak to the theme of bravery and strength, while subtle textures and floral details maintain a sense of sweet femininity.
