Carlos Marcial Torres x Mr. Monk
Carlos Marcial Torres is a Mexican digital artist who grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He has since returned to Mexico and is now based in Mexico City. Raised by an artist father and art historian mother, one could say that the arts are in Marcial Torres’ blood. He began exercising his creativity at an early age, in a variety of ways including visual arts, writing, and music. These days, his passion lies in the digital arts. His style can be described as 3D realism with a hint of surrealism. His 3D renders take photorealism to the next level, while never neglecting to incorporate aspects of fantasy, the supernatural, and playfulness.
Mr. Monk is a digital artist from Mexico City. He spent the past 10 years as a Creative Director in the world of Mobile Marketing where he created banners, layouts, app interfaces, and led various digital marketing campaigns. Despite a busy role in the corporate world, Mr.Monk’s creations continued to flow. His current creations are highly influenced by popular culture and the characters within it. Images found in creepy magazines from the 1950s and 60s provide Mr.Monk with a great deal of inspiration. Ghoulish monsters, skulls, space travel, the depths of the ocean, visions of the future… The subjects of Mr.Monk’s creations are often out of this world.
The name of the artwork means silence in Spanish and alludes to the almost absolute silence that can only be experienced inside a desert.
