Description:
As simplistic as the idea of self might sound, it is a powerful thing. The self is the foundation for individualism. This piece explores the idea of the self, presenting it as the very nucleus of humankind. It also presents the self in an elevated state, referencing the possibility of attaining a higher state (whether intellectually, spiritually or otherwise). In other words, the piece says that through the elevation of the self, the greater population of humankind can reach a higher state of existence.

The model in the artwork is Nigerian writer, TJ Benson who is also known as Tarfa.

Description:
Since I started my art career I’ve been obsessed with how visual reality is formed. One of the factual things I have learned is that the eye has specialized cells that are stimulated by either red, green or blue wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum. Most of our screens play that game by activating tiny individual modules of these three colors plus black. The combination forms what we perceive as other colors; the eye and the brain do the magic. This piece is about one of my favorite combinations (RGB) and their physical implications with perception with some added (why not?) psychedelia.

The piece is made on After Effects using elements such as microscope photos I took in the past, analog painting scans and digital created graphics. In fact, the circle in the top-right of the piece is my eye being displayed on a phone screen and then captured on the microscope.
